Why Penelope's Pride?

Kathryn is a descendant of Mary Penelope Thompson Williams who created quilts for
each of her more than 50 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.  Mary
Penelope, known as Grandma Williams, made a quilt to be given to many descendants
upon their marriage.  Grandma Williams passed on at the age of 91 still creating quilts.
The legacy of her love of quilting was captured in the 1949 portrait of Grandma
Williams by her grandson Lorin Folland Jr.  It hangs in the Pioneer Memorial Museum,
300 N. Main, Salt Lake City Utah, in the board room on the second floor.  Penelope's
Pride Quilts is a tribute Grandma Williams and the legacy she left, the quilts and the
grandchildren.  Kathryn says, "I hope to make Grandma Williams proud."

Artist Resume
Kathryn's original name for the pillow is
"
Snowflakes in Smithfield".  It honors to
her time in Utah where they first
experienced a white Christmas.  It brings
back many memories of the children and
their first snowman, snowball fights,
sledding on “Old Main”, and a private
“Luge” in the backyard.  She has lived in
many places since Utah but Christmas
always brings memories of the snowflakes in
Smithfield.
