A Match Made on the Internet While Heaven Smiled
This is a wedding gift for Kathryn's brother and his new bride, the top is
complete, it will be hand quilted. Check back soon to see it set-up on
the frame and watch its progress.
Here is a message from Kathryn about the quilt, "the Ohio Star block
represents my new sister-by-love, our Ohio star. I am so grateful my
brother has found her. I once told him how lucky he is and how
incredible it was that he found her, even though they lived so far apart.
He replied, "you gotta love technology." Before the wedding I only been
able to get to know her via technology but my love for her, even before
we met, taught me that love does blossom via the Internet.
The Road to California block was chosen to represent my brother but it
also represents her love for him. Having never lived anywhere but Ohio
she bravely made the move to California to make life better for my baby
brother. May I tell you a secret of the love I feel for Dave? It is because I
have been far away from my family for many years. I have come to depend
upon him to support me and to be my only friend sometimes. I know their
relationship will be stronger as they grow through the challenge of being
far from her first home in the home they will make together. Home will
always be where you are together no matter where you are.
The Jacob's Ladder block represents my newest nephew. Can I tell you all
what a great kid he is! In Genesis Jacob, Isaac's son dreams of a ladder to
heaven. I know they will surround him with love just as the Ohio Star and
the Road to California blocks surround the Jacob's Ladder blocks.
My brother chose the fabric in the outermost border. The remaining
fabrics were selected to create the blocks. The yellow is reminiscent of
a double wedding ring. If I had been a more experienced quilter I may
have attempted that pattern, I'm glad I didn't. This quilt is uniquely theirs;
I designed the pattern and the layout just for them."
